Stress Free New Home Building

In today’s world, we experience varying degrees of stress on a daily basis. From our work lives to our family and children and more. Throw on top of that the endeavor of building a new home. Even the thought of it may cause an elevated heart rate in some people. But it doesn’t have to!

When you make the decision to go the new construction route, you will inevitably have to make many decisions throughout the process. This home is custom and it is yours. You have the ability to make it your dream home. If you start with that positive thinking in mind, you will set yourself up to start the process on the right foot.

New Construction Homes Without The Stress

A good new home builder will lay out the process that will be followed in building your home. This will give you an idea of what to expect. There are a lot of people involved and a lot of moving parts. You will have to make quite a few decisions to reach that end goal of your dream home. If you take a deep breath and follow some of these powerful tips you can make this a fun experience you will enjoy.

Start With A Plan

The best way to approach any large project is to start with a plan. Building a new home is no different. The build process will go much smoother if you have a clear idea of what needs to be done, the timeline it should be done in, and the cost of getting it done.

One of the most important parts of your initial plan is your budget. After all, your budget will be the guide for many of your decisions. This includes your location and which community you choose, which floor plan you choose, as well as the upgrades chosen for your new home—such as granite countertops and upgraded appliances. If a spouse or partner is involved, it is critical that you both agree on a budget and stick to it.

Make Decisions Before You Start Building

Ideally, you want to have a good idea of everything you want in your home before breaking ground. If you make decisions on colors of finishings, placements, layouts, etc. before you start building, you will save yourself undue stress during the build itself. At SEDA, our build process begins once all design and structural elements are chosen.

When you are choosing your floor plan, picture how you want to see yourself living in the space. Start with the most used areas first. Do the research and make decisions at that point on furniture and cabinet placement, as well as finishings and fixtures to complement.

When you build a new home with SEDA, you will have a one-on-one meeting with our Design Coordinator at our 1,900 square-foot Design Center. At this time you will choose all the design elements for your new home, such as exterior and interior finishes, floors, fixtures, cabinets, paint, lighting, countertops, and so much more.

At this time you also have the opportunity to further personalize your new home by requesting the relocation of doors, windows, and walls, as well as additional options such as enlarging square footage, adding a third garage bay, and more. These structural changes are subject to approval by SEDA New Homes.

Once we break ground and begin building your new home, all you have to do is sit back and watch it become a reality. Many of our excited homeowners use this time to plan their new home’s interior design by purchasing new furniture and new decor.

Keep Open Communication With Your Builder

Visiting your new home during the build process gives you a chance to see what is happening at each phase and further keep those lines of communication open with your builder. You will be able to watch the progress and proactively handle anything that needs your attention or approval.

During the construction of your SEDA home, for safety purposes, we ask that you do not walk on the construction site. If you have any questions during the build process or need to address any concerns, we ask that you see your SEDA Home Advisor. They will be your go-to during the building process and will be happy to help you.

Use The Resources Available to You

You don’t have to make all the decisions on your own. Utilize the ideas and resources of those around you. Involve your family and friends to help make design selections and make it fun. Your builder and their design coordinators do this day in and day out and have built hundreds of homes before. Lean on them to help you throughout the build of your new home.
