Nassau Humane Society Receives Donation from the 2nd Annual SEDA Pet Food Drive
SEDA New Homes, one of Nassau counties largest local home builders, donated over 100 pounds of dog and cat food collected during their 2nd Annual SEDA Christmas Pet Food Drive to the Nassau County Humane Society.
“We always want to support the Nassau Humane Society because they are so active in finding a loving home for all of their animals,” said Linda Semanik, Vice-President of Sales at SEDA New Homes.
SEDA collected dog food, cat food, pet toys, and more at their model homes during their 2nd Annual Christmas Pet Food Drive. In addition to the pet food, Semanik delivered a check to the Nassau Humane Society.
“Many companies choose a charity to support,” says Semanik. “At SEDA, our pets are such a huge part of our families. They give us unconditional love and bring so much joy to our lives. Our hope is that other companies will begin supporting their local Humane Society to help pets in need.”
The Nassau Humane Society has dogs, cats and other small animals for adoption.
“If you are ready to adopt, you should absolutely stop by this amazing facility; you will be impressed,” says Semanik. “The cats are in a playroom where you can observe their personalities and there is Aurora’s Dog Park, a 1.3-acre park with a bone-shaped pool, where you can bring your dog to play. There is a small membership fee which benefits the Nassau Humane Society.”

Low Maintenance Living
Moving into a new home is a very exciting and enjoyable time. One of the reasons is that new homes are easier to maintain and the need for repairs is low. But, you can utilize some effective strategies and certain materials now to continue that low maintenance living in your home for a long time. This will give you more time to spend enjoying your home with family and friends even after the “newness” of the home has passed.
What many people don’t realize is that if you invest in low maintenance upgrades during the building of your home it will reduce your ongoing operational and home maintenance costs in the long run.
Here are some low maintenance techniques you can use to ensure you are enjoying what matters most in your new home and not worrying about cleaning or maintenance every weekend.
- Choose an Open Floor Plan!
Choosing an open floor plan for the main living areas as you design your new home will decrease the amount of maintenance and increase interaction with family and guests. Utilizing an open layout allows for easy interaction and flow.
It’s nice for someone to be able to be in the kitchen preparing a meal while at the same time interacting with others in adjacent living spaces or watching the children play. It also makes cleaning easy as you can move throughout the space freely and dirt and dust isn’t collected in smaller confined spaces.
You can create a living space that is as open as possible and inviting at the same time by using décor and furnishings to make the distinction between each area.
